About Claddah
The Claddagh, The Claddagh Ring and Claddah Travel
The Claddagh Ring is a symbol of Ireland and a symbol of love, friendship and loyalty.
The Ring and jewellery is worn by Irish people and others around the world.
There are many romantic stories about the ring, but its origins are shrouded in mystery.
One origin is attributed to a Galway goldsmith of some fame, Richard Joyce,
dating back to the late 1600s.
The Claddagh is in Galway City, in the West of Ireland. The Claddagh was once a unique
fishing village with thatched whitewashed cottages that inspired painters and writers
and is mentioned in song and story. It had its own traditions, laws, songs, its own ring,
and its elected king. Times have changed, but it is still part of Galway.
